FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How far can you run the trip line? Pro Tip: run the trip line along a circular perimeter.

You can run the trip line at least 40 feet. At some point, the weight of the trip wire itself might pull the firing pin out. However, in that case, you can use the "tactical setup" described above.

Pro Tip: to create a circular perimeter, guide the trip line along the perimeter's path by running it through the eye of several eye bolts. With this method, a single trip line can be guided in multiple directions to create a circle.

How do you make it waterproof and how does it perform in wet environments?

We recommend maintaining the device with some gun lube, not oil because that can freeze in extreme temperatures. To help make the primer waterproof, we recommend using clear nail polish on the head. Here is a demonstration of how to make the entire system weather-resistant:link.

What kind of blanks can I use in the Fith Ops Perimter Trip Alarm?

The perimeter trip alarm works with most brands of 12g blanks, poppers, training ammo, starter blanks or acoustic blanks. Some blanks have primers that are too hard for the firing pin to detonate.

How much tension is needed to pull the firing spring up?

The firing pin can be pulled up with one hand. No tools are required to pull it back.

Do all 209 primers work in the 209 primer trip alarm?

Nearly all 209 primers work in the 209 primer adapter. We recommend CCI and sell them when available (we are sometimes out of stock however). You can also use Federal, Cheddite brand primers.

How far away can you hear the noise?

This answer varies depending on the blank. The waterproof sight and sound bear deterrents are 127dB, which is around the noise level of a firecracker.

Pro Tip:when using multiple trip alarms, you can use different dB level blanks in each alarm. This way, you can hear, based on the sound and noise level, which of your alarms has been tripped.

Are your trip alarms reuseable?

Yes, our perimeter trip alarms can be reused over and over. Just reload it and reset the trigger pin.

What if I can't find any blanks?

To avoid running out of blanks, we recommend purchasing our adapters (209, 308, .22 cal). See blanks they can work with below.

This way, you can resort to different types of blanks when needed. You can even purchase CCI power loads at most Lowe's and Home Depot locations. These are an excellent option for the .22 adapter.

Adapter Compatibility
1. 209 primer adapter works with 209 primers ONLY

2. 308 adapter works with 308, 30-06 and 45 blanks

3. The .22 adapter works with .22 power loads and Ramsets, which are used in nail guns.

Do all 12g work in the device?

The 12g blanks are also called poppers, training ammo, flash bang and starter ammo. Most of these work in our device.

Will my trip alarm misfire?

If you use a quality primer and have waterproofed it, your alarm should not fail to fire. We sell trusted blanks, but you can also purchase your own. Just make sure they're top quality: there's no sense in setting an alarm that fails to fire because of poor quality blanks.

For 209 primers, we recommend CCI brand first, then Federal and Cheddite second. These brands are the most reliable we've found.

Double-Check It:ensure that the top ring of the device is screwed in tightly. If you've disassembled the device to add oil to the internal spring, make sure you tightly screw down this piece.
