The Fith OPs Camp Safe firestarter is a unique configuration of magnesium and ferrocerium, a new format of compact survival fire-starting device. It's formed into a unitary rod, 1/3 of which is magnesium and 2/3 is ferrocerium. The Camp Safe is 10mm in diameter and 5 3/4 inches long, an efficient size for getting a good grip while still being compact enough to fit even the smallest survival kit. Scrape off shavings of the magnesium (the silver portion) to use as the accelerant, and then strike the ferrocerium (the gray portion) to create sparks to ignite the magnesium shavings.
Scrapers are specially manufactured using an extra-hardened metal alloy that maximizes the amount of sparks you get when scraped against a Camp Safe firestarter.
